Ratangad is a fort in Ratan Wadi, Maharashtra, India, overlooking the locale of Bhandardara, one of the oldest artificial catchment area. This fort is located in the Ahmadnagar district of Maharashtra. It is on the boundary of Ahmednagar and Thane districts. The fort is about 2000 years old. This fort is covered with beautiful flowering plants in November. Ratangad is also called Jewels of the Fort. Ratangad has a natural rock peak with a cavity in it at the top which is called ‘Nedhe’ or ‘Eye of the Needle’.The fort has four gates Ganesh, Hanuman, Konkan and Trimbak. The sculptures of Lord Ganesh and Hanuman are seen on the main gate It also has many wells on the top. The fort is origin for the river Pravara/Amrutvahini. The Bhandardara dam(arthar dam) is built on this river.From the top of the fort neighbouring forts like Alang, kulang, Madan gad, Harishchandragad, Patta are seen easily..

Day 1

• Reach at Samrad Village and rest
• 05:30 am : Freshen up & Breakfast
• 06:30 am : Start trek towards Ratangad
• 09:30 am : Reach top, explore the surrounding
• 11:00 am : Start descending towards the base
• 02:00 pm : Reach base village, freshen up & Lunch
• 03:00 pm : Start return journey to Kasara Railway Station
• 05:16 pm : take a return train to mumbai
• 07:30 pm : Approx arrival at Mumbai

• Rain are expected, so pack your bags accordingly to save them from getting wet
• Good trekking shoes preferably ‘Action’ brand - Trekking Shoes
• Haversack/backpack to carry all things.

• The path can be slippery due to monsoons. So, proper precautions should be taken during the visit
• Carry enough water with you and do not resort to any other water source without any assistance

• Floaters and sandals are not allowed

• Do not litter the place as it is in great need of being maintained and adopted
