Details about the Destination
Irshalgad Fort is located between Matheran and Panvel in Maharashtra and serves as a sister fort to Prabalgad. The area of the fort is compact, featuring several rock-cut water cisterns and a scenic water tank on the route from the Irshal Plateau to the pinnacle peak.
The trek starts from Karja village near Chowk, following a wide, well-defined path towards Irshalwadi village. The path climbs a steep ridge before tapering into an easy ascent. From Irshalwadi, trekmates pass a local deity's temple to access the Irshalgad plateau. The summit offers stunning panoramic views of companion forts including Prabalgad, Matheran, Chanderi, Malanggad, Karnala, and Manikgad, as well as the Morbe Dam.
